Coronet Peak to Reopen as Nature and Machines Dump Snow

Tuesday June 24 06:14 PM

Thanks to some natural snowfall and good snowmaking temperatures skiers and riders will be welcomed back to Coronet Peak tomorrow Wednesday 25th June.

Fifteen centimetres of fresh snow has fallen at the top of Coronet Peak , eight centimetres at the base and that’s just Mother Nature’s contribution.  Snowguns have been blasting constantly for the past 36 hours supplementing the natural falls to provide coverage across all main trails.

Ski Area manager Hamish McCrostie said an icy blast over the past 24 hours had chilled things down enough to get the ski season up and running again.

It’s cold, there’s more snow in the forecast and everything’s on track for further natural and man made snow over the rest of the week.  We’re looking forward to being open and enjoying the winter conditions.”

We’re planning a big weekend with the official opening of the new building, a 50% off ‘most products’ day and DJ Recloose on the decks from early afternoon on Saturday.  It is also the start of the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival, and then there’s the Party at the Peak on Sunday with the first night skiing of the season and a musical lineup featuring Midge Marsden and the Master Blasters followed by Goodnight Nurse.”
