Staff at the Pennywell Pig Farm have recently started to develop a number of their pigs into professional artists, UK news sources report, allowing them to broaden their career horizons.

The effort began quite by accident, when two of the pigs were let loose at a local craft fair and stumbled across a stockpile of water-based paints. Following this chance event, a number of animals showing an aptitude for artwork were let loose with the paintbrush, resulting in paintings that have generated over £150 of revenue for the farm.

Farmer and local art talent scout Chris Murray states he is "flabagasted" by his pigs' artistic finesse, and even went so far as to compare their works to those of world-renowned artist Jackson Pollock. "The pigs tended to go more for pointilism - they weren't too keen on cubism," commented Pollock. Top art critic Guillaume Apollinaire describes the works as "an intoxicating blend of surrealist style and post modernism".

It is not yet known if these works of art will be made available to international audiences, although Pollock has complete confidence that his top painters Van Snout and Bottabelli will go a long way in today's art world.
