Tales from the 7 in 7 Challenge Expert Blogger
I dreamed up the 7 in 7 Challenge during a long solo tramp through the Kaimanawa and Kaweka mountains late last year.
My brother Alan died of Leukaemia back in 1969.
Ever since then I have harboured the idea of doing something amazing to raise funds for research into a cure for this cruel disease.
At 54km the Milford is the third longest of the 7in7 Great Walks. It holds a special place in my memory as I walked it in perfect conditions with my dad some 21 years ago....
Just what shape I'll be in when I wake on the morning of Day 5 is anyone's guess....
Is it any coincidence that the longest track of the entire Challenge is also the only track where I have not managed to recruit a full set of support runners?...
I've been running a little poll on my website recently, asking "Which of the 7 Great Walks would you most like to run?" And the most popular choice has been the Abel Tasman Coastal Track....
We will arrive in National Park late on the evening of Day 1, having travelled from Waikaremoana in our Roadcraft motorhome....
