As I lay by the pool, something occurred to me: something was missing.

Where were the ear-splitting screams of the rugrats? Looking around, I saw plenty of parents... but no children. Had they left them tethered to the bed while they spent the day in peace and quiet?
Luckily parents don't have to go to extremes to enjoy some alone time at Club Med. The Bali resort offers the full gamut of childrens' programmes: from 0-10 years old are catered for at Petit Club (0-3 years), Mini Club (4-7 years) and Kids' Club (7-10).

This means it's the perfect place for a family holiday. You choose how much time you want to spend with your little nippers, and the rest of the time they're happily absorbed in an ever-changing selection of activities, from swimming, circus school and archery to story time, crafts and games.
There's even a scheduled nap time so they don't get cranky.

Every evening the Club Med staff get a break while you grab your little ones for shower time, then they're even taken care of while you enjoy a romantic (or raucous) dinner at the restaurant.
Some may scoff at the idea of a 'family holiday' when someone else is minding the kids.

But while they don't have to spend the full day at Kids' Club, Kaarin Gaukrodger says most parents will find they have trouble dragging them away from their new friends and all the activities.

Club Med was the first resort to introduce the concept of a Kids' Club way back in 1967 and the programme is constantly being revamped.
Most recently activities have been designed to broaden kids' minds and increase their cognitive skills - they won't know it, but even on holiday they'll be learning! Sneaky.
