There's so much to do at a place like Club Med that a relaxing holiday can turn into a whirlwind of classes, sports and partying. And when you're at an all-inclusive resort, how could you say no to a cocktail or seven?

But overdoing it can lead to some slightly jaded faces around the village the next morning. That's when you head to the quiet pool.
Down one end of the village, next to the spa, is Club Med's quiet ambience area. This is part of the new refurbishment and it's pretty gorgeous.

You enter the pool complex through a magenta-shaded screen that affords some privacy. Inside it's like a library - voices are kept hushed in this area.
There's a decent size pool to paddle about or just float in, and a whole array of sumptuously furnished daybeds and lounges.

An attendant is on hand to bring you a cool drink or a fresh towel, and when you've finished you can take a steam in the Turkish
hammam (sauna) next door.
It's all very sedate and blissful - the perfect antidote to a big night in the disco.
