What's your dream destination?

Our travel section is a great place to start when planning a holiday - we've got the information and the tools you need to get started. But it's also a great place to dream a little - our Destination Guides are a fount of inspiration. You can read about far-off places and exotic escapes, even if getting there seems impossible right now.

This week, we asked members of the Yahoo!Xtra editorial team, "If you could take a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?" Check out their answers below:

I have two dream destinations – one would probably be the Seychelles, it's the ultimate chillout spot with the most stunning picture-perfect white sands and turquoise sea.

After all that relaxing I'd like to explore an island like Borneo. My knowledge of the place extends to the fact that it has lots of snakes, sloths and many other weird and wonderful creatures begging to be papped. And it also seems to be somewhere that's definitely off the beaten path in terms of tourist hordes and therefore less developed as a tourist destination, which is high on my list of ideal places to visit.

My dream destination would definitely be Peru. I would love to hike the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu - it would be an incredible four days of stunning unforgettable scenery, ending with a visit to one of the most amazing ruins sites the world has to offer.

But Peru also has much more than just ancient ruins: I'd love a kicking night out in Lima; visiting Lake Titcaca would be awesome; and I'd also like to improve my Spanish by hanging out with some Peruvians.

A little jaunt round a few of the smaller Caribbean islands: Antigua, St Barts, Anguilla. Spicy food, cold beers, cocktails in coconuts, exploratory days in open-topped jeeps, languishing on white sandy shores, some cricket watching if I was lucky. Then on the way home a bit of an exploration through the rainforests in Belize and Honduras. Too much to ask?

This time last year I was midway through a four-month long trip of Europe where I got to cover off most of my dream destinations with the exception of one place - Egypt. The history and iconic landmarks stand out as the top reasons to go there but the culture also fascinates me. Some people's dream destinations may be a secluded beach or the bright lights of a big city but they are everywhere, nowhere else in the world can you see the amazing sights of the sphinx and giant pyramids.

I'm hoping to visit Thailand at some stage for a holiday of two halves - from bustling Bangkok to relaxing Phuket. First stop would be the crazy city to get a quick glimpse of the amazing sights and vibrant culture. I'd shop till I drop in Bangkok for a night or two, to try my hand at bartering and to scoop up as many bargains as I can, before flitting off to Phuket to enjoy my new purchases and the rest of what the beautiful place has to offer. I have a list of things to do...

- Enjoy a facial and massage
- Jump on a speedboat to Phi Phi Island
- As a huge fan of Thai food, I've promised my flatmates to take up cooking classes so on my return I can cook up amazing Thai feasts
- Canoe up a river to visit an elephant sanctuary, before hoping on the back of one to explore the jungle (The thing I'm looking forward to most)
- And of course relax on the beautiful beaches.

While I'm a sucker for a tropical holiday, one country's at the top of my to-do list: Sweden. I have a very small amount of Swedish blood, and the Scandinavian nation with its wild Viking history has always intrigued me. I'd love to spend a decent chunk of time there, checking out the amazing natural scenery, seeing the northern lights and partying through one of their neverending summers (from May to July, it pretty much doesn't get dark!).

Personally I would love to do bit of spiritual holidaying on Shikoku Island in Japan, or some hiking through Nepal and Tibet... Since I travel with my partner next on the list is South America. With such beautiful nature and versatile cultures I think it would be an amazing place to visit. Some highlights must include Iguaçu Falls, Machu Picchu, Bolivia's Salt Plains, Lake Titicaca, Argentina’s/Chile’s wine regions…

My first dream destination is Peru, particularly to visit Macchu Picchu. While that way I would go into Chile and Argentina to have a mixed South American Experience. Ancient civilisations interest me immensely. The second dream destination is to return to Egypt. I was particularly impressed with the sights of ancient pyramids, the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Painters. I would drop everything today and be on plane if the opportunity arose. The people are fantastic.
