Arrive by air or by road, but be sure to allow yourself the freedom of self-drive - it's the best way to discover the friendly towns and wild landscapes of Southland. During your travels you'll want to abandon your car for a day and take to the sky - a scenic flight over Fiordland may become the highlight of your trip.

By Air:

Rental Cars for self-drive are available in Invercargill.
Scenic tours are available from local tourism operators. Shuttle buses run between Invercargill, Fiordland, Queenstown and other Southland-Otago destinations, while long-distance coach services operate from the central city.
